Our Club
Our club serves primarily Lees Summit, Blue Springs,Grandview, Belton, South KC, Pleasant Hill and the Ray-Pec areas. However, we have people who drive from as far as Liberty, Olathe, Sadailia, etc.

Our Dojo, first and foremost is a positive place. We work out hard and we play hard. You will learn something at every class. You also will practice movements through drills that commit them to memory. What this means to you is that it will become reaction movement. What this means for the opponent or bad guy is loss and or pain.

Our Dojo has brand new equipment that includes a 42' by 54' raised floor that has over a thousand square feet of one and 7/8 inches  Zebra Tatami (mat).

Our Facilities

Even though we are one of the least expensive Dojos in town we have a facilty that has brand new amenities ranging from seating, (2) bathrooms, snack bar all the way to OUR EQUIPMET!

We figure if we want Champions we need to provide them with the best set of tools that we can. So we do this in every class via technique but even deeper than that we create the environment so before they even step on the mat we are ready to go.

The Ultimate Spring Loaded Judo Mat

As a competitor with over twenty five years of fighting experience, I have always looked for ways to better my program. Looking back at my own training, I do know that many competitors have told me that they never really had an issue with the falls. However I recognize that first of all I am not wired like most and secondly there is no reason to endure the injuries that come from repeated falls on the hard surfaces I have had many athletes tall me the only thing that they never really liked about Judo as an adolescent and especially as an adult was landing on concrete hard surfaces, especially in the cold winters. I also realized that many who started Judo in the clubs I was attending, including athletes I thought were really going to go far, soon quit Judo because they didn't appreciate the falling. Early on as a coach, I made the vow that I would not subject my students to unnecessary hardship just as soon as I could. After a year of teaching in other peoples facilities, I opened our first permanent dojo and in came the spring loaded mat, for good!

Why the Spring Loaded Mat?

Judo is the most physically demanding sport and it doesn't need to be made any harder to learn. With these truths in mind, the benefits of the spring loaded mat are numerous and invaluable. You cannot as an athlete take for granted that you will escape. many of the common injuries, You have to keep in mind that most other Judokas assume that falling must include some degree of "torture" or "pain", and no longer. The hope also is that we will not to lose 50-70% of our beginners allowing Judo to grow as a sport. Judo can be made a even more enjoyable and safe without losing any of the benefits that we deliver because of the use a spring loaded mat. The advantages of this mat over other mats typically used are as follow:
·     Prevents many common injuries
·     Minimizes wear and tear on body
·     Lengthens Judo career
·     More "pleasant" landing surface
·     Increases student retention
·     Ability to practice longer
·     Ability to practice harder
·     Ability to practice more throws
·     ultimately improve our Judo and Jujitsu

What type of Spring Loaded Mat does DLT have?

Our spring loaded matt is a firm double layered wooden platform that rests on a combination of resilient, small springs and foam. To the best of our knowledge we are the only Dojo around here that has taken their floor to the extreme quality by having a 1 and 7/8 inch mat on top of the platform and then an actual 1 and 7/8 inch Zebra Tatami mat topping it all off.

Do not be tricked by imitations or makeshift raised floors

Some will  build there floors with a single layer of a firm wooden platform that rests on some type of springy material such as makeshift springs, tires, carpet foam, tennis balls etc. Mats or they then add canvas, slippery material or some type of 1” cheap Wal-Mart type mats.
